Name the destination and starting point

A report that the office is confusing is difficult to act on. Ask where the person started and what they were trying to reach. For example, reaching the presentation desk from the entrance is a different task from returning to the entrance after a meeting. Choose one journey to investigate first. This keeps the review focused and avoids redesigning the whole office from one vague complaint.

Reproduce the journey without directions

Follow the route in normal play, using the participant view rather than the editor overview. At every turn, note which destination appears most obvious. If possible, ask a teammate who did not build the map to repeat the walk. Do not give them hints immediately. Their first wrong turn may reveal a misleading doorway, a stronger visual landmark, or a room that looks more inviting than the intended destination.

Separate three kinds of failure

A person can miss a route because its destination is hard to identify, its physical approach is blocked, or its instruction is unclear. These need different fixes. A brighter landmark cannot open a blocked passage. Removing a sofa cannot explain an ambiguous room name. Check movement around the obstruction and compare the visible furniture with collision information when you have authorized editor access.

Make one targeted adjustment

If a cabinet hides the entrance to a meeting corner, move that cabinet before adding more signs. If two corners look identical, give the destination a distinctive arrangement that suits its purpose. If the invitation uses a room name nobody sees in the office, rewrite the instruction. Keep a recovery copy before structural edits and avoid changing several unrelated routes during the same experiment.

Retest both directions

Walk the repaired route from arrival to destination, then return from the destination to arrival. A good inward route can still have a confusing exit. Ask the teammate to repeat the task without the old hints. If the same hesitation remains, record its exact point and revise the proposed cause. Keep the successful instruction with the invitation so the layout and the words continue to agree.
